Calgary, Alberta played host to the FIS Snowboard World Cup's most recent stop this weekend. Saturday featured the slopestyle contest, and the home crowd had lots to cheer about. Unfortunately, no Canadians took the top spot, but they filled the rest of the podium in the men's competition, and took second in the women's. The top place in the women's event went to Allyson Carroll of the U.S. It was just her first World Cup slopestyle event, and her third World Cup competition ever. She went big from the beginning, and was rewarded at the end. Second place went to Brooke Voigt, who took the same placing in last year's event. Third went to Pia Mesuburger of Austria. Austria took first in the men's competition thanks to Clemens Schattschneider. Robby Balharry and Zachary Stone rounded out the podium.
The level of snowboarding on display in Calgary was some of the best around. Here at Mica Heli Guides, the powder has been epic as well, making for some great snowboarding and skiing. La NiƱa has been dropping all kinds of powder all over British Columbia, especially over here outside of Revelstoke. Interior B.C. not only has big mountains, it also has some of the best powder in the world.
Our tenure is more than 177,000 acres in size, and when it's covered in powder like it is now, the backcountry heliskiing is top-notch. There are lots of
heli ski operators in B.C., but we're unique because we only offer small group
heliskiing. That gives you a more personal experience on the slopes, which in turn makes for a better heli ski vacation overall.
With so much acreage available for heli skiing and heli boarding, you know you'll never get bored. Whether you like the adrenaline rush of the alpine heights or something more sedate, we've got you covered. There are only a few tours left this season, so book today.
